Mayday Friendship Group in Clacton On Sea is a social and support group for those who desire a social life and opportunities for mutual support, but who find socialising difficult.
Reasons might include: neurodiversity, low self esteem, prolonged loneliness and isolation and mental health issues like addiction, depression and anxiety. (All our Thursday afternoon meetings are alcohol free)
A typical Mayday Friendship Group meeting includes a friendly chat and a "Support Round" that endeavours to ensure that everybody feels heard if they have something they want or need to say about their struggles or indeed to share their happiness. We believe in honesty and authenticity and nobody need feel under any pressure to wear a smile if they don't feel like it and nobody has to share their issues, only if they want to. We promise to respect the confidentiality of any issue discussed.
Once a month our meeting is a PARTY! to celebrate members birthdays falling within that month. We also have a bit of a reunion and seasonal celebration just before Christmas.
If you would like to check us out with absolutely no obligation, please get in touch for meeting location and so we can keep an eye out for you in case you are feeling nervous. If you want to bring a family member, friend or support worker with you initially, they are very welcome too!
